Girls take first, boys second at Northwood
The Packers' cross country teams had a strong outing on Thursday afternoon at Northwood Golf Course. The girls' team finished first among the 19 teams with a score of 43, and the boys' team finished second with a score of 46.
Out of 111 runners, the girls had seven runners in the top 20. They were led by freshman Jen Dufner, who finished third with a time of 16 minutes, 41 seconds. Eighth grader Madison Urlaub was only seven seconds behind Dufner, finishing fifth.
Junior Andrea Milbrandt rounded out the top 10 with a 17:04 time, and freshman Katelyn Ask finished right behind her four seconds later.
The boys team ended up with five runners in the top 20, and were led by junior Parker Rosenau with a 17:21 time and a second-place finish out of 85 runners.
Sophomore Kody Coles came in sixth with a time of 17:54 and junior Keegan Cronin crossed the finish line eight seconds later, finishing eighth.
Eighth-grader Noah Schaeffer finished his 5k in 18 minutes, 27 seconds and was the 12th runner to finish.
The Packers will host the West Fargo Invitational at Johnson Park in Moorhead on Saturday at 10 a.m.
