Hay bale removal postponed until Nov. 15

Because of wet conditions, the North Dakota Department of Transportation will not begin removing hay bales on state highway right-of-ways until Nov. 15 in four district areas: Minot, Valley City, Devils Lake and Fargo.

The normal deadline for hay removal on state highway right-of-ways is Nov. 1. State law prohibits hay from being placed on the right-of-way except on the outer edge. Large round bales must not be placed on inslopes or within 60 feet from the outside edge of the driving lane.

In other parts of the state not included in the four districts listed, hay bales remaining on right-of-ways after the Nov. 1 deadline will be removed as directed by the district engineer.
