One of West Fargo's top golfers has decided to stick close to home after his senior season.
On Nov. 9, North Dakota State University head coach Billy Iverson announced that Connor Holland signed a National Letter of Intent to play men's golf for the Bison.
Holland is a two-time all-conference and all-state golfer who will end his prep career as a senior this spring with the Packers. As a junior, he led West Fargo with a 74.8 scoring average, and helped his team to its first-ever Eastern Dakota Conference title.
At this year's state tournament, Holland was the Packers' lone placer after hitting a two-day 152 that put him in a four-way tie for fourth. The junior improved on his placing from last year's state tournament, in which he shot a 149 to finish seventh.
He placed third at the East Region meet prior to state, and went on to win the 79th Pine to Palm championship in Detroit Lakes, Minn. Holland also has been a top-five finisher at the local KX-4 Amateur tourney.
The NDSU men's golf team ended its fall season with a sixth-place finish at the Kauai Collegiate Invitational in late October. NDSU begins its spring schedule March 5-7 with the Quintero Invitational in Peoria, Ariz.
