Ilene Lodoen, 91 of Fargo, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Eventide Lutheran Home in Moorhead.
Ilene Holm was born on June 28, 1922 in Victor, SD to Gust and Ida Holm. In 1933 the family moved to Thompson, ND where she graduated from high school in 1940. Her first employment was in the post office in Halstad, MN. Later she managed a variety store in Warren, MN where she met her future husband. She moved from Warren to Minneapolis where her family was living. She worked as an elevator operator in the Sears office building while attending business school. After her schooling she was employed for many years in the executive offices of Sears and Roebuck.
Ilene was married to Clayton Lodoen on February 10, 1945 in Laguna Beach, CA. While Clayton was overseas during the war, Ilene continued working at Sears. After his return they lived in Minneapolis and Fargo and moved to West Fargo in 1950. Ilene enjoyed being active in church, school and community organizations and activities. She later joined Clayton in their real estate and insurance business. She also enjoyed living in Bismarck during the years Clayton served in the North Dakota Legislature. Clayton died in 1998.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clayton; sister, Lavonne Marty and her brother, Gordon Holm.
Ilene is survived by her son, Terry Lodoen of Audubon, MN; daughter, Rebecca (Don) Williams of Gering, NE; brother, Donald (Jann) Holm of Savage, MN; brother-in-law, Victor Marty of Bloomington, MN and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Faith Lutheran Church or Eventide Lutheran Home.
Visitation: Sunday, December 15 from 6-7 pm at West Funeral Home, West Fargo and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Prayer Service: Sunday at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Funeral Service: Monday, December 16 at 11:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church, West Fargo.
Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
