West Fargo man charged in child's bathtub drowning

James Bruce Pearson

James Bruce (Pony) Pearson, 63, of Pelican Rapids, Minn., passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at home on Pelican Lake.

Bruce was born August 26, 1947, to Grace (Williams) and F. Walter Pearson. He graduated from Arthur High School in 1965 and received a B.B.A. in marketing from the University of North Dakota in 1969. Following college, Bruce joined his father in the commodities business of Pearson, Inc., Hunter, N.D. In 1979, he went to work for Merrill Lynch, Fargo, before joining E.F. Hutton in 1982. During his career, he also worked for WDAY (television and radio) providing commodity reports. In 1975, Bruce married Kathy Schmierer.

Bruce had great love for his two sons, Pelican Lake and dogs. He enjoyed reading and travel; especially to Jamaica.

Bruce leaves behind two sons, Baxter (Trisha) Pearson, Fargo, and Tyler Pearson, Fargo; his brother, Frank (Jane) Pearson, Oxbow; a large extended family he cared deeply for and his dog, Willie.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 16, in Arthur United Methodist Church, Arthur, N.D.
