Jonas named director of CTE Consortium
Denise Jonas –Liberty Middle School’s principal – has accepted the position as the first director of the Cass County Career and Technical Education (CTE) Consortium.
The idea for the Cass County CTE Consortium stemmed from each district’s desire to make CTE opportunities available to students who may not have otherwise had access to such programming. The consortium will allow the districts to leverage state dollars more effectively and will establish unique opportunities for collaboration among the districts.
Jonas holds a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership, a master’s degree in career and technical education and a bachelor’s degree in business education, all from the University of North Dakota. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Minot State University.
Prior to the opening of Liberty Middle School in the fall of 2013, she served as the assistant principal and activities director at Cheney Middle School for five years.
Before coming to West Fargo in 2008, she served as CTE director for Devils Lake Public Schools and executive director of the Northeast Education Services Cooperative for six years.
“We are fortunate to have a person of Jonas’ caliber to lead this pioneering effort in our community,” West Fargo Superintendent David Flowers said in a release. “She is the ideal person, because of her passion and experience regarding career and technical education, to help increase opportunities for students from our area and to facilitate partnerships among districts and with the local business community.”
Jonas begins her new role on July 1.
