Special Events:

Dabble in Calligraphy: Thursday, Jan. 12, 7 to 8 p.m. Get an introduction to calligraphy with instructor Ann Kaese. All supplies provided. Open to adults and teens. Sign up at the service desk or call 433-5460.

Crochet Jewelry: Monday, Jan. 16, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Take a crochet hook and your favorite beads and you will be shown how to create a beautiful bracelet or necklace. Easy to do- give it a try. Open to adults and teens. Sign up at the service desk or call 433-5460.

Holiday Bingo: Monday, Jan. 16, 4 to 5 p.m. Fun, refreshments and bingo prizes. Open to children, teens, and adults.

Regular Events:

Technology Thursday: Introduction to Computers: Thursday, Jan. 12, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. If you've never used a computer before or have very limited experience, this is the class for you. Learn the basics of using a mouse, discover the difference between programs and files, and get to know the general navigation of a computer. Sign up at the service desk or call 433-5460 to reserve a spot.

Genealogy: Saturday, Jan. 14, 12 to 4 p.m. Genealogist Jackie Marler will be available to help explore your family's history. Take your projects or just ask questions.

Knitty Giddy: Tuesday, Jan. 17, 6:30 p.m. If you are an experienced knitter, take along your projects and knit; if you are a new knitter, take your size 8 to size 10 needles and a skein of yarn and you will receive help getting started.  Fun, relaxed group.

Ham Radio Group: Wednesday, Jan. 11, 6:45 to 8:45 p.m. Open to adults interested in learning about ham radio.

Sunday Video Games: Jan. 15, 2 p.m. Try your skills at Kinect Sports or Mario Cart Racing. 

Simply Stories: Tuesday, Jan, 17, 10 a.m. Take your little ones to the library and enjoy two stories. Unlike regular story times, this program is just stories - no crafts.  If you're looking for stories and crafts, visit the library Tuesdays at 1:30 or Thursdays at 6:30.

Storytime: This year, storytimes will include stories, songs, projects, and other activities. Thursday, Jan. 12, 6:30 p.m., "Winter Snows;" Tuesday, Jan. 17, 1:30 p.m., "A Winter Nap;" Thursday, Jan. 19, 6:30 p.m., "Sleep, Bear, Sleep."

Friday Morning Movie - Happiness is . . . Peanuts: Snow Days: Jan. 13, 10:30 a.m. The Peanuts gang celebrates snow days in this collection of animated stories.  (Rated GNR, 47 min)

New Movie Saturday - The Help: Jan. 14, 2 p.m. A Mississippi debutante, eager to begin her writing career, creates a buzz in her community when she interviews African-American servants. Based on the best-seller book by Kathryn Stockett, this is a thought-provoking film about 1960s race in America. (Rated PG-13, 2 hrs 26 min)

Upcoming Events:

Hop 'N' Pop: Wednesday, Jan. 25, 11 to 11:30 a.m. Hop and pop to music. Lots of action, plenty of popping fun for pre-schoolers and their caregivers. Light snack, too.

Bag Sale: Saturday, Jan. 21, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Fill a bag during this library sale. Friends of the Library members pay - $5 / bag;  general public - $7 / bag.

Announcements: The Homework Center will be closed on Monday, Jan. 16 (no school).
