Library News (June 4)

Special events: Magic Show with Jeffrey Salveson: 2 p.m. Saturday. Prepare to be delighted by the magic of Jeffrey Salveson and his rabbit.

Summer Reading Program Events

These events are free and open to the public, but registration in the summer reading program is required, except as noted. There are events and activities for all age groups and each age has a special theme. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the SkyLab, Professor Freeze, Brain Power, and a Magic Show. For full details on events, get a schedule at the library service desk.

Little Fizzers (Preschool) Simply Stories: 10:15 a.m. June 10. This session is geared for lap babies and preschoolers and is just stories – no crafts. For stories and simple make-and-take crafts, visit the library at 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Summer reading program registration is not required.

Story time: Story times are geared for preschool through first-grade-age children and their caretakers. Day cares are welcome, but for groups larger than five, please call ahead to (701) 433-5460.

This week’s theme: Everyone Needs a Rock (summer reading program registration is not required.)

Fizz, Boom, Read! (K-5) Craft : 1:30 p.m. Monday. Paint a cloth bag and make it yours and enter to win a door-prize drawing. Participants must be registered in summer reading program.

Spark a Reaction (Grades 6-8) Craft: 3:30 p.m. Monday. Cloth bag will be provided. A door prize drawing will be held. Participants must be registered in summer reading program.

All Ages Brain Power: 3 p.m. Thursday. Touch a Jello brain and learn cool information about the organ. Also, make your own personal brain cap. Bring a helmet or a picture of you with your helmet for a special door prize. Open to all; registration is not required. Presented by Sanford Health.

West Fargo: Looking Back, Looking Forward: An exhibit features an illustrated timeline of the history of West Fargo and includes a few peeks at what lies ahead. Visit the exhibit (upper level of the library) during library hours.

Regular Events: Genealogy: Noon and 4 p.m. Saturday. Bring projects or just ask questions.

Video Gaming: 3:30 p.m. Friday. Two hours of fun with many video games, LEGOS and Kinects available to play.

Knitty Giddy: 6:30 p.m. June 10. New and experienced crafters are welcome. Bring supplies.

Friday Morning Movie: 10:30 a.m. Friday. – “Jimmy Neutron.” Join Jimmy Neutron go on exciting adventures, attempting crazy experiments and hopefully saving the world, all at the same time. (82 minutes, G)

Upcoming Events: Summer Reading Program Events: Garden Club (grades K-8): 10 :15 a.m. June 11. Students will learn and discuss different gardening topics, paint flower pots and plant flowers. Registration is required.

Rockin’ with Rocks (grades K-8): 3:30 p.m. June 12. An introduction to the interesting and fabulous types of rocks. There will be interactive games and lots of fun information. Registration is required.

Blind Date with a Book (high school age – adults): 7 p.m. June 16. Discussion of participants’ blind date with a book. Please visit the library and choose a wrapped book at the service desk, then read and enjoy it. Light refreshments will be provided and registration is required.

New Release Movie: 1:30 p.m. June 21: “Ender’s Game.” Sit on the edge of your seat as these students at a specialized school try to discover the one person who would be able to defend our planet against a future alien attack. Popcorn will also be available.

Announcements: The library is now on summer schedule and will be closed on Sundays.
