Lieutenant Duane Sall, a 17-year veteran officer with the West Fargo Police Department, has been named the 2009 Safe Communities Coalition Member of the Year.
For member of the year, the SCC looks for someone who stands out as an active and valuable member of the coalition, said Kristi Engelstad, Chairperson for the SCC. She said Lieutenant Sall meets this criterion and based the findings on several aspects. For example, Lieutenant Sall has been a member of the coalition for about nine years as well as a member of the Alcohol Committee. He helped develop and implement Alcohol Compliance Checks and the Server Training Group.
Lieutenant Sall also was instrumental in bringing the "Alive at 25" program to West Fargo schools as well as garnering participation for the North Dakota Teen Drivers contest.
Chief Rasmussen accepted the award for Lieutenant Sall who presently is attending the National FBI Academy in Quantico, Va. Chief Rasmussen said he is extremely proud of the work Lieutenant Sall has done for the coalition and for representing North Dakota during this current session of the National FBI Academy.
