While duck hunting might seem like a long time from now, a local conservation group doesn't want outdoor enthusiasts to get too comfortable during the offseason.

The Agassiz 4-Curls Delta Waterfowl chapter in Fargo is hosting its annual banquet March 9 at the Speedway Steakhouse and Event Center in West Fargo, located at 680 Main Avenue West, and just north of the Red River Valley Speedway.

Doors open at 5:30p.m., and dinner will be served around 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $45 for individuals, $60 for couples and $30 for youth. With the purchase, ticket holders not only receive entrance to the banquet and meal of barbeque ribs, but also receive a one-year membership to Delta Waterfowl.

This year, two kegs of beer will be offered free of charge until they are gone.

Aside from the food and frosty beverages, many items are available on the auction block.

For the regional sports fan, a signed NDSU Championship football will be offered, as well as a team-signed UND Fighting Sioux hockey jersey.

There also will be approximately 12 to 15 guns to be raffled off, as well as various wildlife prints, decoys and hunting gear.

A special youth raffle, which includes a gun, will be held just for the kids in attendance.

Agassiz 4-Curls member Troy Freeken said a majority of funds garnered from the banquet are used for education youth on how to be true sportsmen.

"We also bring out a larger group of kids each fall during the youth waterfowl season," Freeken said.

Tickets are available at the door, but numbers are limited. While Freenek said that, at the moment, it does not appear like they will sell out, people wanting to go may wish to purchase them ahead of time, just in case.

To do so, contact Freeken at 701-866-8327. Tickets may also be purchased online at www.deltawaterfowl.org/events.
