Midwest Waterfowl Fest to be held Aug. 13-14 at Scheels
The region's largest waterfowl festival is coming up just in time for North Dakota's early goose hunting season.
The Midwest Waterfowl Fest will be held Aug. 13-14 at the Fargo Scheels located at 1551 45th St. S. Hours for the festival are 3-8:30 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday (though hours and program are subject to change).
The free family event features a seminar by Scott Threinen, a two-time World Goose Calling Champion and producer of the "Bad Grammer" line of instructional CDs and DVDs.
Other features at the festival include a youth education seminar on waterfowl, youth duck and goose calling contests, adult open duck and goose calling contest, and the North Dakota State Duck Calling Championships, which is a national qualifying event.
There also will be dog competitions, including Super Air, Super Launch and Vertical Leap competitions.
Food will be available along with a wild game cook-off. Registration forms for any of the events can be picked up at Scheels, or downloaded from www.fargoparks.com.
