Since 1984, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation has gathered a following of more then 160,000 members to become one of the leading environmental conservation organizations in the world.
For decades, the MinnDak Chapter has been there to support the organization's cause: "To ensure the future of elk, other wildlife and their habitat."
On April 10, this local RMEF chapter will host its 20th annual Big Game Banquet at the Speedway Event Center in West Fargo. Doors open at 5 p.m., and dinner is at 7 p.m. Guests must be RMEF members to attend. Tickets are $25 for members, or $60 for non-members (this purchases both a banquet ticket and one-year membership to RMEF).
Proceeds will benefit RMEF, which in its lifetime has permanently protected more than 1,4000 square miles of critical elk habitat, and opened more then 590,000 acres to public hunting, fishing and outdoor recreation.
The lion's share of RMEF funding comes from local chapters, such as MinnDak. In North Dakota, for example, monies generated have helped complete more than 135 projects to protect and enhance over 53,000 acres of critical elk and wildlife habitat. Funding also has helped spur conservation education and hunting heritage activities in North Dakota. These have introduced young people and women to the outdoors, while promoting hunter safety, responsibility and conservation.
This year's MinnDak Big Game Banquet will have something for every outdoor enthusiast. There will be the customary array of silent-auction and live-auction items, games, and other hunting equipment to either bid on or buy.
