National Library Week: Library offers busy slate of activities

National Library Week will be observed April 13 through April 19, at the West Fargo Public Library, with a full slate of events as well as amnesty granted all week on fines. No fines will be charged on any over due library material returned April 14 through April 19.

Storytime for preschoolers will also be featured during the observance on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. and Thursday at 6:30 p.m., featuring stories, crafts, and songs.

Other programs during the week include:

• Movie "Night at the Museum" rated PG, 20th Century Fox, Wednesday, April 16, at 6:30 p.m., popcorn too.

•  "Waking up your Garden" program will be presented on Thursday April 17, at 6:30 p.m. Last Fall everyone put their gardens to bed and now it is time to wake them up.  Local gardener Mary Jane Breitling will provide tips on how to have those beautiful gardens. 

• Used Book Sale, organized by the Friends of the Library. On April 18, there will be a special presale for volunteers and past and present Friends of the Library. The sale will be open to the general public on the Saturdays of April 19 and April 26, from 10:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.  Items for sale include hardcovered and paperback books, movies, books on tape, canvas book bags. All are priced to sell.

• Family movie, Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 3 p.m., "Cheaper by the Dozen," rated PG, 20th Century Fox.

Other programs scheduled at the Library the month of April include:

• Yoga, Tai Chi, and Chi Ball, Thursday, April 10, at 6:30 p.m. Carolyn, an Exercise Specialist at MeritCare Southpointe Clinic, will give demonstrations of Yoga, Tai Chi, and Chi Ball. She will bring exercise mats, so those attending are asked to wear comfortable clothes. Participation in the actual exercises is not required. There is no charge. Registration is preferred but not required. Registration can be completed at the service desk or by calling 433-5460. 

• Storytime, Thursday, April 10, at 6:30 p.m., Friends, "Grumpy Bird."

• Movie, Saturday, April 12, at 2 p.m., "Hercules," (Walt Disney Pictures).
