New pool on course to open soon

If all goes well, the new West Fargo Veterans Memorial swimming pool should be open by the end of this month.

“We’re looking at opening the week of the 29th of June. It could be sooner than that,” said Barb Erbstoesser, executive director of the West Fargo Park District.

The new $2.2 million pool, located at 131 6th Ave. E., will be open seven days a week from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and evenings from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Lap swimming and adaptive swimming will be held Monday through Friday from noon to 12:50 p.m.

“We are looking to be open through Labor Day weekend. That’s something we want to try to do every year,” said Erbstoesser.

The previous pool, which closed on July 24, 2013, served West Fargo for 56 years.

“The average life of a pool doesn’t usually get past 40 years,” Erbstoesser said.

The cost of admission will be $2 each for the pool and waterslide. Admission is free for children under age 1.

Users of the waterslide must be at least 4 feet tall.

Anyone who enters the pool, including spectators, must pay admission, Erbstoesser said.

The swimming pool will have a capacity of 277 people.
