Packers swim team tops KnightRiders

The West Fargo swimming and diving team took first in seven of 12 events and beat the Grand Forks KnightRiders 107-79 on Friday evening.

The Packers got first place finishes in the 200 medley relay, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke.

Packer Ethan Doll finished the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:09.96, just under 15 seconds faster than the next swimmer.

Another highlight came from the 200 medley relay team of Doll, Alex Smestad, Carson Keller and Matt Montplaisir, who finished the event with a time of 1:48.35, which was just 0.6 seconds faster than the second-place Grand Forks relay team.

In the 200 freestyle, Packer Stephen Hulbert finished in second place, just 0.08 seconds behind KnightRider Tristan Weisz.

The Packers will host the Mandan Braves on Friday for a 5 p.m. meet.
