Packers win both weekend games

The Packer girls’ hockey team beat the Jamestown Blue Jays 5-1 on Friday’s Senior Night game, then topped the Dickinson Midgets 14-0 on Saturday for their 19th and 20th consecutive conference victories.
The girls were led by senior Hayley Walsh in Friday’s game. She scored a goal in each period, along with an assist in the second.
Alison Springer – who also had two assists in the game – and Tori Holland had the other two goals for the Packers.
Saturday’s game was highlighted by Kelly Krahn’s four goals and one assist.
Walsh added a goal and five assists to the team’s stat sheet, and Springer and Rachael Monkman each added two goals of their own.
The state hockey tournament begins tomorrow morning with the No. 1-ranked Packers (21-1-0 overall) facing the Williston Coyotes at Olympic Arena in Grand Forks at 11 a.m.
