A Pie and Ice Cream social will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m., on Thursday, June 24. Enjoy homemade pie with ice cream and participate in many games including water balloon launching, gunny sack races, and donut-on-a-string race.
Everyone is invited to this free community event, you are just asked to take a non-perishable donation for the food bank. Hosted by Journey in Faith, a ministry of Faith Lutheran Church, the event will be held at the Sheyenne Ninth Grade Center south parking lot off 40 Ave. E. and Veteran's Blvd. in West Fargo.
Journey in Faith is also changing up its worship to serve on Sunday, June 27.
Boy Scout, Hunter Gossett, who is working on his Eagle Scout project, has organized a Building Blitz and acquired donated materials to build a 10' x 12' shed for Produce with Purpose at 40th Ave. E. just west of the Sheyenne Ninth Grade Center in West Fargo.
This Sunday's schedule begins at 9 a.m. with the following Building Blitz projects: Building the shed, weeding the garden, and cleaning the 40th Ave. ditch. At 10 a.m., Journey Worship will be held at the site followed by more serving, followed by a noon potluck with hot dogs and beverage provided. Take a lawn chair; if building, a hammer; if gardening, a hoe and gloves.
No experience is necessary to participate with any of the projects. In the event of rain, the 10 a.m. worship service will be held at the Urban Plains Center in Fargo.
Produce with Purpose has a two-acre garden, on the future second site of Faith Lutheran, which provides locally grown produce for purchase and community donations. They are committed to giving away 10% of the produce and proceeds to fight hunger and poverty. Produce with Purpose builds relationships through gardening, teaches gardening and canning skills, provides fresh produce to the Farmers Market and hosts a community Fall Festival in October.
