"We wanted to bring the Fair to the residents of Bethany Retirement Living" stated general manager Bryan Schulz.  "Many of the residents are long-time fairgoers and have been active participants in the Fair for years.  We just wanted to give back to them for all the years they have supported us.  We wanted to bring the fair to them."

Bethany Retirement Living and the Red River Valley Fair have been hosting Fair activities for a couple of weeks with the residents.  On June 11, Daisy the Dairy Cow was brought to Bethany Retirement Living for the monthly ice cream social.  "It was a ton of fun to have the residents "milk" Daisy.  I think every single person mentioned they used to milk cows growing up.  We just felt this was a good way to include them in the Fair," explained Jodi Buresh, assistant general manager.

Bethany Retirement Living hosted a "County Fair Week" in late June.  Residents entered their baked goods and craft items.  Awards for each category will be given for first, second, third and Best of Show on Monday, July 9 at the event.  Representatives from the Red River Valley Fair Association will present the awards.

A variety of Fair activities will be held at the Bethany Retirement Living event between 4 and 7 p.m., including: Minnow Racing, performances from the Krigen Accordion Band and strolling act Steve, The Pretty Good is expected to appear.

The Red River Valley Fair is scheduled for July 10-15, 2012.
