Sept. boys soccer, boys tennis invitational tournaments set

Two annual invitational tournaments have been set for West Fargo boys soccer and boys tennis.

The 10th Annual West Fargo Boys Invitational Tennis Competition will be held Saturday, Sept. 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Locations for matches will encompass much of the Fargo-Moorhead area, and include: Elephant Park, Fargo North High School, Fargo South High School, Island Park, Fargo Davies High School, West Fargo High School, Discovery Middle School, Bennett Elementary, and the Concordia College tennis courts.

Teams from across the state also are set to participate, and apart from the Packers, include: Fargo South, Fargo North, Fargo Shanley, Grand Forks Central, Grand Forks Red River, Wahpeton, Valley City, Fargo Davies, Jamestown, Bismarck Century, Dickinson, Bismarck High, Minot, Mandan and Williston.

The format will follow six single flights and three doubles. Medals will be awarded for first place through fifth place, and team competition for first place.

Soccer invite Sept. 16-17

The 2011 West Fargo Invitational Boys Soccer Tournament has been set for Sept. 16-17 at the Scheels Soccer Complex.

The Friday pairings are: West Fargo vs. Jamestown (Field 1), Shanley vs. Mandan (Field 2), 3:30 p.m.; Detroit Lakes (Minn.) vs. Bismarck St. Mary's (Field 1), Crookston (Minn.) vs. Minot (Field 2), 5:30 p.m.

Saturday's pairings are: St. Mary's vs. West Fargo (Field 1), Minot vs. Shanley (Field 2), 9 a.m.; Jamestown vs. Detroit Lakes (Field 1), Minot vs. Shanley (Field 2), 11 a.m.; West Fargo vs. Minot (Field 1), Shanley vs. St. Mary's (Field 2), 1 p.m.; Crookston vs. Jamestown (Field 1), Detroit Lakes vs. Mandan (Field 2), 3 p.m.
