Soccer: WF's Beyer signs with BSC
Bismarck State College will be adding another solid West Fargo athlete to its soccer team.
Brandon Beyer recently signed a letter of intent to play men's soccer at BSC, coach Mel Fischer said. He will be the third Packer on the Mystics' ranks come fall.
Beyer was a defenseman last fall with the Packers. The senior captain racked up four goals and two assists on the season, and helped West Fargo (10-2-0 EDC, 12-8-0 overall) to a regular-season runner-up finish in the Eastern Dakota Conference standings. Beyer earned a spot on the All Conference team, and was West Fargo's lone All State First Team pick.
Senior Paul Lanctot and junior Brady Rotert earned All State Second Team honors for the Packers. Rotert also was named to the All Tournament Team.
Beyer will be joining two other West Fargo soccer players who already have a year of experience at the college level.
Kody Duncan had three goals as a freshman with BSC. With the Packers, he was an All-EDC pick, and earned spots on the State All Tournament team and was named the Rotary All Star in 2010.
Tarley Gaye was a State All Tournament pick for West Fargo in 2010. Last year, the freshman forward had one goal with BSC.
BSC is part of the National Junior College Athletic Association. Last year, the Mystics men's soccer team finished 1-13-0, with their only highlight coming in a 2-1 home-opening victory over Century College.
Beyer was one of two players to recently sign with BSC. The other, Nyle Williams, is a midfielder for Swan Valley Regional Secondary School in Swan River, Man.
