The Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical, "A Chorus Line," is warming up for one singular, sensational weekend of performances this August on the West Fargo High School stage. Presented by Summer Arts Intensive, collaboration between the West Fargo High School Theatre Department and the West Fargo Public Schools, "A Chorus Line," is set for four performances - August 2, 3 and 4 at 7:30 p. m. and August 5 at 2:30 p. m. in the West Fargo High School Theatre at 801 9th St. E.
On the bare stage of an empty theatre, casting for a new Broadway musical is almost complete as seventeen dancers don their legwarmers and perfect their combinations for a place in the chorus. The audition takes a personal turn as they are asked to reveal their individual ambitions and insecurities - ranging from funny to wrenching - as they struggle to impress a demanding director in the audition of their lifetime. "A Chorus Line" is the musical for everyone who's ever had a dream and put it all on the line.
Memorable musical numbers include: "I Can Do That," "At the Ballet,""Dance: Ten; Looks: Three," "The Music and the Mirror," "One (Singular Sensation)," and "What I Did for Love." "A Chorus Line" is a brilliantly complex fusion of dance, song and compelling drama. The show was instantly recognized as a classic upon its debut in 1975 and became one of the longest-running Broadway productions of all time.
The Summer Arts Intensive production of "A Chorus Line" features a cast, crew and orchestra of 40-plus young artists from around the Fargo-Moorhead area under the direction of a team of accomplished local teachers and professionals.
