Swimmers fourth at Davies Invite
Just about every other weekend event was postponed thanks to the subzero temperatures and dangerous wind chills, but the Packer swim team powered past that to take part in an invitational at Fargo Davies. They managed to take fourth place out of seven teams with 308 points.
They finished behind Bismarck Century, Fargo North and Fargo South, but finished ahead of Mandan, Davies and Bismarck High.
Leading the Packers was junior Carson Keller, who finished third out of 32 swimmers in the 200-yard individual medley, ending with a final time of 2:13.21.
He was also a part of the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relay teams, both of which finished fourth out of 30 teams.
He was joined on the 200-yard team by Jacob Ustanko, Stephen Hulbert and Jarrett Lardy. On the 400-yard relay, he teamed up with Jarod Smith, Brandon Olson and Cole Weisz.
Hulbert finished seventh in the 200-yard freestyle with a final time of 1:59.70.
Weisz was just over a second behind Keller in the 200 individual medley, finishing fourth in 2:14.73.
Keller and Weisz also finished back-to-back in the 100-yard breastroke, where Weisz edged out Keller for sixth place by .2 seconds.
Smith swam the 50-yard freestyle in just under 24 seconds, good enough for fifth place out of 93 swimmers.
Freshman diver Kyle Holoien finished fifth in the one-meter dive, earning a final score of 277.60.
The Packers head to Jamestown on Saturday morning to take part in an East vs. West invitational, starting at 10:30 a.m.
