Today's opening of Red River Valley Fair midway delayed until 3 p.m.

WEST FARGO - The carnival operation at the Red River Valley Fair has delayed its opening for four hours today to give it more time to inspect the rides after strong storms earlier this morning.

Bryan Schulz, the fair's general manager, said the carnival company, Murphy Brother Expedition, wanted to make sure high winds didn't cause any problems beyond the ticket booths and tents that tipped over.

"We just want to make sure that when people get on the rides everything is safe," Schulz said.

The fair gates opened at the usual time at 11 a.m., but the midway won't open until 3 p.m. For additional information, call the fair office at (701) 282-2200.
