Back in September of 2005, when Rev. Vern Baardson and his newly formed congregation at Triumph West moved into rented space at the Multiband Towers in Fargo, they knew it was only temporary. They relied on God's timing to decide how long they would stay at Multiband.

Now, two-and-a-half years later, Triumph West Church has outgrown the conference room they were renting on the ground floor of the Multiband Tower. To accommodate their growing congregation, they have moved to the Ramada Plaza Suites, 1635 42nd St. S., Fargo, where they will hold worship services each Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

To celebrate their move, congregation members scheduled a Celebration Parade on May 11, an hour before their first service was scheduled to be held in their new worship space. The parade began at the parking lot at the Multiband Tower at 9:30 a.m., and followed the short route to the Ramada. Children rode bikes with parents walking alongside, some pushing strollers, while others drove convertibles or vehicles in the festive caravan. A reception with coffee and snacks was held at the Ramada as the congregation members arrived at their new home for worship.

Triumph West has acquired land south of West Fargo along Sheyenne Street across from the Eagle Run entrance, where the congregation plans to build a permanent church. A fundraising campaign has been initiated, and the congregation is moving forward with their expansion plans. In the meantime, the relocation to the Ramada will allow ample space for their congregation to grow while they develop plans for their new church.

Baardson and his wife, Casey, look at the move as a very positive thing, and are excited to be working with the staff at the Ramada. "I kept thinking we had put up too many chairs, but we filled most of them this morning," Casey said, smiling brightly.

According to Ernie Scheid, an Elder at Triumph West, 189 people attended Triumph West's first worship service at the Ramada. An adjoining room provided a nursery close by for parents to bring infants and toddlers during the service.

Triumph West is an outreach church affiliated with Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church of Moorhead. Their goal is to provide a relaxed and casual church setting where people from all walks of life can fit in and feel comfortable. In a Pioneer interview when the church first opened in 2005, Casey explained, "We want to be a place where people don't have to pretend to be someone they aren't, and just be challenged by God and the truth of His words."
