Troops conduct Court of Honor awards

West Fargo Troops 279 and 246 joined to celebrate a Court of Honor Awards Ceremony on Monday, June 6, at Armour Park in West Fargo.

Troop 279 awarded ten merit badges and 24 rank advancement badges and Troop 274 awarded three merit badges and 15 rank advancement badges. Two highlights of the evening included Jarod Steinberger, son of Dan and Erin Steinberger, receiving his Eagle Scout award; and Andrew Dosch, son of Paul and Mary Dosch, received his Eagle Scout Silver Palm.

To achieve the rank of Eagle, a Scout needs to have completed 21 required merit badges and 13 elective merit badges as well as a service project in the community. Palms are earned after the award of the Eagle Scout rank by completing an additional five merit badges for the bronze palm, ten merit badges for the gold palm and 15 merit badges for the silver palm.

The evening concluded with refreshments and desserts to celebrate these successes.

Troop 246 is new to West Fargo having been charted in January of 2011. Curt Olien is the Scout Master and Triumph Church is the chartering organization. Troop 279 is charted by Holy Cross Catholic Church and Lutheran Church of the Cross.
