VFW and Ladies Auxiliary receive awards at state convention

The West Fargo VFW and Ladies Auxiliary recently attended the VFW State Convention in Grand Forks, with the Post and individuals receiving several awards.

Among the Post and Auxiliary awards were citations for Community Service,Voice of Democracy, Teacher Awards, Buddy Poppy, Patriot's Pen, Military Assistance Programs and 100 percent Membership. The Ladies Auxiliary took first place honors in the Buddy Poppy Display contest in the decorative category and second place in the memorial category.

Individual awards were presented to Rick Fuller, All State Post Commander; Bill Tuff, All State Post Quartermaster; Lulu Tostenson, Auxiliary President of the Year; Mary Ann Hudson, National VFW Citation for Buddy Poppy program; Dale Ronning, National Citation for Buddy Poppy program; and Patti Tuff, National Citation for Youth Activities programs.

State Commander Jim Hapala and Ladies Auxiliary President Janice Best presided over the 90th Annual Convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Department of North Dakota. Also present were National VFW Senior Vice Commander-in-Chief Richard DeNoyer of Massachusetts and Past National Auxiliary President Dixie Hild from Nebraska.

Dale Ronning was elected Department Quartermaster and appointed Department Adjutant for the VFW and Patti Tuff was elected Department Guard for the Ladies Auxiliary. Both will assume their duties for the new VFW year of 2011 - 2012.
