Christie Stolz, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her passenger, 35-year-old Christopher Dodge of West Fargo, was taken by ambulance to Essentia Health in Fargo.

The one-vehicle accident occurred at 3:18 p.m. when the driver of a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer headed eastbound on I-94 from Casselton to West Fargo lost control on the icy road, entered the south ditch sliding sideways and rolled several times, according to a news release from the patrol.

Stolz and Dodge were ejected from the vehicle.

There was a separate two-vehicle crash between a pickup and passenger car at the same scene. The pickup driver stopped along the shoulder to provide assistance when he was rear-ended by a passenger vehicle. No one was injured in that crash, the Highway Patrol said.
