The family of Alan Grossman, along with a number of classmates and friends, will be out in full force supporting the 7th annual Walk to Defeat ALS, which will be held at Gooseberry Park, Moorhead, on Saturday August 22, at the small shelter with registration at 9 a.m. and the walk starting at 10 a.m.
Alan's wife, Shelly, and two sons, Matt and Mike, are promoting the walk in memory of Alan and so many others that continue to live with ALS. Alan was diagnosed with the illness in 1996 and passed away after a long battle on June 18, 2007. The name of the Grossman team this year is Alan's Army Against ALS supporting the powerful statement "We Walk Because We Can." The Grossman family is encouraging as many people as possible to be a part of the event on Aug. 22 by participating in the walk in support of an excellent cause.
The event will consist of a three mile walk with a wheelchair accessible route, along with fun and food for the entire family.
Those interested in joining the team can visit the Web site at www.alsmn.org and click on the Walk to Defeat link.
Anyone unable to walk but who would like to donate to the cause, can click on the same link and follow it until able to donate.
Funds raised in the area will be used locally to support ALS patient's services. Anyone with questions about the event is encouraged to call Cindy at 235-2399.
