The traditional West Fargo Winter Days observance is fast approaching offering a diverse slate of activities for all ages and a wonderful way to get out and beat those winter blues.
West Fargo Park District staff serve as organizers of the event highlighted annually by the Silver Snowflake Search, the Winter Days Party at Cheney Middle School, a Senior Luncheon, photo and coloring contest, Polar Bear Pool Party at L.E. Berger School, the passel of youth activities at the West Fargo Public Library, as well as the ever-popular Snow Golf Tournament at Elmwood Park and the Chili Cook-off at the West Fargo VFW.
The event wouldn't be complete without some brand-new additions, which this year include Cosmic Bowling at Stars and Strikes, the addition of a Salsa Contest with the Chili Cookoff and a Bean Bag Tournament at the West Fargo VFW.
Recreation specialist Kim Wangler asserted that there will indeed be something fun for everyone. She said one of the main attractions of the 11-day run is the Silver Snowflake Search which is growing each year as a fun activity for family and friends to be a part of and compete together if as they so choose. She noted that this year each silver snowflake winner will receive a prize package valued at $300 or more.
The search will begin on Jan. 16, with those competing and hunting each day for one of the five silver snowflakes that are cleverly hidden at above ground public locations around the community.
The 2013 prize packages include: Snowflake A: Hornbacher's, Petro Serve USA, Spitfire, United Automotive Tech and Red River Valley Fair; Snowflake B: Hornbacher's, Applebees, Texas Roadhouse, Cloud 9, United Automotive Tech, All-Stop and Stars & Strikes; Snowflake C: Hornbacher's, Petro Serve USA, Happy Joe's, Costco, United Automotive Tech and Applebees; Snowflake D: Hornbacher's, Lucky's 13, Stars & Strikes, United Automotive Tech, Sooper Stop and All-Stop; and Snowflake E: Hornbacher's, Goodfellas, Applebees, United Automotive Tech, Eagle Run Crossing, Texas Roadhouse, Sandy's Donuts and All-Stop.
