West Fargo English teacher presented award
Shawn Krinke, a language arts instructor at West Fargo High School, has been named the recipient of the Linda S. Christenson Literary Scholarship award for new educators. He was presented the award during the North Dakota Council of Teachers of English Summer Conference held at the Doublewood Inn in Fargo on Aug. 2-4.
The NDCTE scholarship is available each year to a qualifying first or second year English/Language Arts teacher employed by a North Dakota school. Krinke received a $500 monetary award, which may be used toward any school related purpose. He was nominated by Aaron Knodel, a fellow West Fargo High School English teacher, who served as Krinke's mentor last year during his first full year teaching in the district.
In his letter of recommendation, Knodel noted that Krinke's understanding of literature and writing is impressive, and that he has an invaluable gift of connecting quickly with students and staff.
