Westside teachers get pies in face

A 'Pie in the Face' celebration was held in the gym at Westside Elementary School on March 26, to mark the conclusion of a successful Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser conducted by the students. Westside students raised a grand total of $6,213.50 for the American Heart Association to help fight heart disease and stroke.

Westside students had set a goal to raise $4,000, with an added incentive to raise their "Wow" goal of $5,000. Students were told if they hit their "Wow" goal, several of their teachers, along with Westside Principal Beth Slette, and Superintendent Dr. Dana Diesel Wallace, would get a pie in their face.

The top six fundraising students, earning the chance to pie a teacher, were Seth Braaten, Matthew Wotjtylak, Ariana VanCleve, Evan Poppenhagen, Isabel Waite, and Hailey Larkin. Other teachers getting pies in the face were Gerri Dyrdahl, Darin Moser, Jennifer Sickels, and Jason Cresap.
