WF students part of Ployhar Band at Valley City State University

Ten West Fargo High School students were selected to participate in the Valley City State University James D. Ployhar Honor Band Oct. 7-8, with Dr. James Adams, Director of Bands at VCSU, their conductor.

The students rehearsed and shared their concert with the 188th Army Band Brass Quintet. They also participated in master classes and enjoyed the hospitality extended by VCSU.

Students participating included: Mari Tonsfeldt-flute, Evan Thostenson, Erika Borslien, Alyssa Bergman, MaKenzie Walkin-clarinet, Taylor Jore-alto saxophone, William Merkel-French horn, Brandon Duenow-trombone, Aaron Hust-euphonium and Logan Reed-tuba.

Susan Jordahl, band director at West Fargo High School, said "the students enjoyed their time and had a great learning experience. This was truly a unique opportunity for the students to work with our performing servicemen."

Other students participating were from surrounding area schools including Northern Cass, Thompson, New England, Northwood, Fargo South, Devils Lake, Oakes and Rolla, Richland, Valley City, and Sargent Central.
