Wieland will not seek another term
District 13 Representative Alon Wieland announced he will not be seeking his district’s endorsement for another term.
“After having the opportunity to be an elected official for the past 32 years, 20 years as a Cass County Commissioner, and 12 years as a State Representative from District 13 in West Fargo, I am announcing that I will not be a candidate for re-election to the House of Representatives in November,” Wieland said. “The reasons are personal, but age is certainly one of them. I feel honored to have served the citizens of Cass County and West Fargo, and I would like to express my thanks to the electorate for the opportunity. I also want to thank all those you have supported me and my decision to run for public office, all of the County Officials I served with including Commissioners, other elected officials, employees, and fellow North Dakota House and Senate members. I also want to thank the Republican Party of the 13th District, my running mates, Senator Judy Lee, Representative Kim Koppelman, the voters and most of all my wife, Merle, and other family members and friends. I will continue to serve out my term until my successor is elected in November.”
