West Fargo Area Chamber of Commerce: Olday new Communications Coordinator

Cheri Olday has joined the West Fargo Area Chamber of Commerce as their new Communications Coordinator. Olday took over her new duties on March 3, replacing John Caron, who resigned to pursue other interests.

Olday will serve as receptionist, answering questions about West Fargo businesses and organizations, handle billing and accounting, and help with events. She will also be responsible for the Chamber newsletter, ordering supplies, responding to mail, and distributing promotional brochures and materials.

Originally from Wales, N.D., near the Canadian border, Olday and her family moved to Fargo in 1997, where her twin sons, Ward and Wyatt, graduated from Fargo South. They later moved to Devils Lake. She has worked extensively in the banking business in marketing. Olday recently returned to Fargo. She and her husband, Dave, live in North Fargo.

"This will be a good fit for me. I think I can do a good job promoting West Fargo. I love the community," Olday said.

Chamber President Chris Barton is very excited to welcome Olday, and feels that her marketing experience and interest in people will bring a broader perspective to the Chamber staff. "What I loved about Cheri right away was her upbeat personality, which is so very important in her position. Having a friendly voice greeting visitors and Chamber members is an important asset. She also displays an eagerness to learn everything she can about our Chamber members and comes to us with lots of ideas and marketing tactics," Barton said.

Olday began at the Chamber on a part-time basis, working in the office between 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. However, in May, at the beginning of the Chamber's new fiscal year, her position will be expanded to full-time. "With the Chamber continuing to grow, we have been considering making the position full-time for quite a while, and the timing seemed right. We will be able to serve our members better with three in the office," Barton said. Adding a fourth person to the staff is also being considered in the future.
