West Fargo, Fargo enact load restrictions

With the warming temperatures across the region, the cities of West Fargo and Fargo enacted load restrictions on Monday.

West Fargo Public Works Forman Chad Zander said changes with the restrictions typically involve drops in per-axle loads. In West Fargo, this means single axles drop from 20,000 pounds to 18,000 pounds. Likewise, tandem-axle truck weights drop from 34,000 pounds to 32,000 pounds.

The restrictions will remain in effect until pavement subgrade conditions warrant removal. This generally doesn't occur until mid-May.

At this time, the truck route system will become non-restricted, and all non-truck route streets must have Class A restrictions. Permit applications for weights in excess of restrictions must be in writing, and submitted to the city engineer.

State restrictions in effect

New load restrictions also were implemented Monday by the North Dakota Department of Transportation on the follow roadways:

• All highways south of I-94.

• Highways south of US 2 & West of ND 3 ( Includes US 2 & ND 3 in this area).

• US 52 from Jct ND 3 MM 167 to Jct ND 15 MM 185 at Fessenden.

• ND 200 from Jct ND 3 MM 254 to Jct US 52 MM 268.

• ND 36 from Tuttle to the Stutsman County Line.

All other highways previously restricted remain posted.
