The West Fargo Police Department will join 14 other agencies in Steele, Traill, Cass, Ransom, Richland, and Sargent counties and the North Dakota Highway Patrol for the Regional DUI Task Force. The task force is a new state program that enables city, county, tribal and state law enforcement agencies to work together to create a highly visible sustained enforcement which deters drunk driving throughout North Dakota.

Alcohol-related fatalities occur not only on state highways, but city, county, and tribal roadways. Over the past five years, approximately fifty percent of motor vehicle fatalities were alcohol-related in North Dakota. The unified regional saturation patrols are part of the North Dakota Department of Transportation's (NDDOT) program to decrease the number of alcohol-related fatalities and car crashes. This Regional DUI Task Force program began October 1.
