Power restored for over 3,100 Xcel customers
FARGO – Power has been restored after an outage that impacted over 3,100 customers throughout the region, according to the Xcel Energy website.
Xcel spokesman Mark Nisbet said crews fixed an outage at a power substation in the area of Thirrd Avenue North and 17th Street in Fargo that caused customers in Baker, Barnesville, Dilworth, Fargo, Glyndon, Moorhead, Sabin and Wolverton to be without power for 43 minutes Wednesday, Nov. 29.
“As of right now, we have those customer back on,” Nisbet said shortly before 4 p.m. when power was restored. Nisbet added that the substation runs power through downtown Fargo on the way out to the other communities.
The outage was wind-related, Nisbet said.
The National Weather Service in Grand Forks issued a high wind advisory until 6 p.m. Wednesday. In Fargo, gusts were as high as 43 mph, according to the weather service.
