North Dakota resident opts for lottery lump sum in $25,000 for life prize

BISMARCK -- A Hettinger resident claimed the $25,000 for life prize from the North Dakota Lottery on Friday afternoon, Aug. 31.

The player, who chose to remain anonymous, opted for the one-time, lump sum payment of $390,000 before taxes, lottery officials said. The drawing was held July 2.

The winner hit all five numbers except the lucky ball.

The Lucky for Life top prize for the Thursday, Sept. 6, draw is $1,000 a day for life. That includes hitting all five numbers and the lucky ball.

According to the lottery website, the odds of matching all five numbers is 1 in 1,813,028. The odds of hitting all five numbers and the lucky ball are 1 in 30,821,472.
