Clarence A. Krogh

Clarence Alton Krogh, 91, died at his farm home outside of Harwood, ND on Thursday, March 2.

He was born on the same farm on May 13, 1925. He was the son of Harmon and Laura (McGorman) Krogh and married Doris Dahl on February 20, 1947. They were the first couple to be married in the new Faith Lutheran Church in West Fargo. They lived together on the family farm for 70 years. Clarence left his senior year of high school in March, 1943 to take over the family farm when his father fell ill and his brothers were in the war. He retired in 1988, but he continued to help his neighbors and stayed active until his passing. He believed in supporting his community and served many organizations including the Prosper School Board, the Harwood Elevator Board, Raymond Township Board, Zion Lutheran Church Council, the Farmers Home Administration Board, and the Oakwood Cemetery Board, as well as serving as a 4-H Leader for many years. He was also a member of the Sons of Norway, the Harwood Senior Citizens, and the former Eagles Lodge.

He loved to travel and always wanted to take a different road to and from any destination. He enjoyed people and visiting with new and old friends. Clarence was a prolific gardener and was known for his generosity in planting extra for neighbors, family, and friends. He loved hunting with his friends, sons, and grandsons, playing cards, family get-togethers and keeping up the family farm. Clarence always said his family was most important to him and we are all grateful for what he gave to us and taught us.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Oliver, Wilbur, Robert, Margaret, Mildred, and Harvey; his first son, Ronald; and his grandson, Chad.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; his children Jim Krogh, West Fargo; Barry Krogh (Linda Kihle), Harwood; Don Krogh (Sharlene Krogh), Harwood; and Nancy Krogh (Brian Petersen), Livingston, MT; as well as 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation was held Monday, March 6, 2017 from 5 until 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at the West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND. Funeral service was held Tuesday, March 7 at 11 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Harwood with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial followed the service at Oakwood Cemetery, Harwood.
