There is a certain sense of city pride when a sports team takes the state title.

But what about a city that has multiple state titles in the same sport at the same time?

West Fargo has that distinction.

Recently, West Fargo Girls Softball hosted the 2010 Junior Olympic Amateur Softball Association North Dakota State Tournaments. It was the first time all age brackets were held together, West Fargo varsity coach Pat Johnson said.

Of West Fargo's four teams in the tournament, three garnered state titles.

The 10 and under division saw the West Fargo girls come through the losers bracket to beat Bismarck twice in the finals to win the championship.

At 12U, West Fargo took third place, while Dickinson took the title with a win over South Fargo.

The West Fargo 14U girls lost their first title game, but came back in the second championship with four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Dickinson 6-5 for the title.

And finally, in the 18U division, West Fargo cruised through the tournament, outscoring their opponents 45-1 in three games. As the cherry on top, Brook Rheault pitched a perfect game in the championship to lead West Fargo to a three-inning, 20-0 win over Casselton for the championship.
