Soccer clubs score at Fishback Classic

With 10 teams representing the West Fargo Soccer Club and four teams representing the Tri-City Storm in the Fishback Classic soccer tournament on July 7 in Brookings, S.D., local teams were able to find some success.

The West Fargo Renegades won the title in the U19 boys division, and the West Fargo United girls team finished second in the U15 division.

For the TC Storm, the U12 girls black team and the U16 girls team both won championships.

The Renegades, coached by Danny Dougherty, went 2-0-1 and scored 19 goals - 10 more than any team they faced - in pool play and went on to defeat Oahe FC Green, Pierre, S.D., 6-2 in the championship game.

The United girls team, under Coach Jenn Bergen, went 2-1-0 and scored six goals in pool play before falling 2-1 to the Yankton (S.D.) Rebels in the U15 championship game.

The TC Storm U12 girls black team led their pool by going 3-0-0 and scoring 14 goals. They topped Fargo Sheyenne United in the championship game by a score of 3-2.

The TC Storm U16 team, playing in the U19 pool, went 2-0-1 and scored 9 goals before beating the Pierre Insanity 2-1 in the championship.

The other West Fargo teams that competed in the tournament were the U10 girls Thunder, U11 girls Flames, U11 girls Strikers, U12 boys Strikers, U14 boys Lightning, U16 boys Thunder, U17 girls United and U17 boys Hotspur.

The TC Storm were also represented by the U12 girls white team and the U11 boys team.
