Packer girls dealt first loss

The Packers traveled to Bismarck on Friday night, but fell to the Demons 3-1.

It was the Packers’ first regular-season loss to a North Dakota team since February 2012.

The Packers were in a 2-0 hole by the early part of the third period. Both of those goals against the Packers came with the West Fargo penalty kill team on the ice.

Senior forward Kelly Krahn scored the team’s only goal about halfway through the third period, with an assist coming from freshman first-liner Janey Sandoval.

However, the Demons responded five minutes later with another power-play goal to cap the victory.

Junior goalie Morgan Stirling stopped 36 of the 39 shots she faced. She currently has a 93.9 save percentage on the season.

The Packers host Fargo South-Davies on Friday at 5:15 p,m., then host Detroit Lakes (Minn.) on Tuesday at the same time.
