Tennis team tops Wahpeton, Shanley

The Packer girls tennis team continued its reign at the top of the Eastern Dakota Conference with two more wins last week, beating Wahpeton on Thursday and Fargo Shanley on Friday, both by a score of 9-0.

All but one match in those two days was taken by the Packers in straight sets.

Against Wahpeton, seniors Kaylee Stock and Jamie Freden each surrender just one point to their opponents. Stock then repeated that performance in her doubles match with senior Katie Baasch in a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Baasch and senior Sammie Smith were the top performers against the Deacons, winning their singles matches 6-1, 6-0.

Smith then joined eighth-grader Pooja Chemiti for a 6-1, 6-0 win in her doubles match.

The 9-1 Packers (6-0 in the EDC) will host Fargo Davies at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. The West Fargo Invitational begins on Saturday morning, with all EDC teams participating.
