The sister of a woman who was allegedly shot and killed by her ex-husband in Jamestown Saturday described her as a loving mother and someone who cared for others. Shayna Mano of Aiea, Hawaii, sent an email to The Sun Sunday morning and wrote that the person killed was Nicole Haliaaloha Gututala, 25, from Nanakuli, Hawaii. Gututala was currently living in Jamestown.
JAMESTOWN, N.D, — A Montpelier, N.D., man allegedly shot and killed his ex-wife Saturday afternoon, May 12, in southeast Jamestown, according to the Jamestown Police Department. Jameston Chief of Police Scott Edinger said at around 3:55 p.m. Saturday the Stutsman County Communications Center received several calls reporting a shooting at 503 15th St. SE. Callers reported a man shot a woman in a vehicle in the parking lot of that apartment building and fled the scene in a white SUV.

She was appearing with her husband, Gov. Doug Burgum, at the University of Jamestown. Helgaas Burgum said she is 16 years in recovery, and North Dakota needs to work to eliminate the stigma and shame that surrounds the disease of addiction and those who have the disease.
JAMESTOWN, N.D.—A 27-year-old Jamestown man was identified Thursday, Feb. 22 as the man killed by law enforcement following a pursuit in the city that ended north of Medina. Stutsman County Sheriff Chad Kaiser said Michael Andrew Schieffer died following the incident that began late Wednesday morning. There was a warrant for Schieffer from the city of Bismarck for driving under suspension, Kaiser said, which prompted a Jamestown police officer to pull him over. Schieffer led Jamestown police officers on a pursuit from Jamestown into northwest Stutsman County.
Taylor Hicks will be touting the cuisine and culture of North Dakota in the latest episode of the television show "State Plate" when it is shown at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, on INSP. Hicks is best known as the winner of season five of "American Idol." Since then Hicks said he has been touring to support his music career, but he is also in his second season hosting "State Plate." In each episode, Hicks and his support crew create a plate of food that represents each state's iconic foods. Hicks said he couldn't disclose what foods were used to create North Dakota's State Plate.
FORBES, N.D.—A Forbes man was arrested Tuesday, Jan. 30, for allegedly assaulting a 9-year-old child in Dickey County in December. Robert Sturgis Miner, 49, was arrested by the Dickey County Sheriff's Office north of Forbes Tuesday, with support from the James River Special Operations Team, the Red River Valley SWAT, North Dakota Highway Patrol and North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
BISMARCK—Knowing where and when a North Dakota Department of Transportation snowplow truck will be moving through an area is now possible through a new pilot program.
JAMESTOWN, N.D.—A traffic stop eight miles east of Jamestown on Interstate 94 Sunday morning, Jan. 21, resulted in 476 pounds of marijuana being seized, according to the Stutsman County Sheriff's Office. The seizure Sunday has resulted in almost 700 pounds of marijuana being confiscated by the sheriff's office in a little more than a month.
