She is a teacher at Fargo's Ed Clapp Elementary and a mother of children in the West Fargo School District.
A front page story published Tuesday, Aug. 28, ("Approval voting measure to appear on Fargo ballots in November") contained incorrect information. The last time Fargo had an initiated measure on the ballot was in 2008, the year voters were asked to pick between two dueling smoking bans.
FARGO — Desi Fleming, until recently the director of nursing at Fargo Cass Public Health, has been named the head of the agency by city leaders. “Desi’s had an admirable career with the city of Fargo and has certainly earned this opportunity,” City Administrator Bruce Grubb said. City commissioners voted unanimously Monday, Aug. 27, to promote her.
FARGO — A West Fargo father accused of injuring his 3-month-old son has been sentenced to five months behind bars and two years of supervised probation. Aaron Kempfer pleaded guilty in Cass County District Court to a felony count of child abuse in May. On Monday, Aug. 27, a judge sentenced Kempfer, giving him credit for having already spent 118 days in jail. He must also pay about $690 in restitution.

AMENIA, N.D. — A 37-year-old Fargo man is facing DUI charges after he was involved in a single-vehicle rollover Saturday, Aug. 25, according to a report released by the North Dakota Highway Patrol. About 8 p.m. on Saturday, Steven Lauinger was traveling south on Highway 18 north of Amenia, N.D., on a motorcycle when he lost control and was thrown from the vehicle, the report said.
CHRISTINE, N.D. — A 61-year-old man was hospitalized after a single-vehicle crash Monday, Aug. 27, according to a Richland County Sheriff's Office news release.
FARGO — The Mayors’ Blue Ribbon Commission on Addiction will collect unused or expired over-the-counter and prescription medications from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, outside the main entrance of Fargo Cass Public Health, 1240 25th St. S. in Fargo. The collection is meant to help protect the environment and prevent drug misuse. Two similar events held this year brought in 220 pounds of medication.
