A story published Wednesday, Sept. 19, (“West Fargo high-rise demolition on track; new public housing complex planned,” A1) was not clear on which part of the high-rise complex will be demolished. The high-rise complex includes both high-rise and low-rise buildings. Housing officials will demolish the low-rise part of the complex in the spring.
MOORHEAD — A state district court judge in Clay County is on the short list to fill a vacancy on the Minnesota Court of Appeals, Gov. Mark Dayton’s office said Wednesday, Sept. 19. Judge Michelle Lawson was recommended to the governor by the Commission on Judicial Selection, along with Judge Jennifer Kurud Fischer in Kandiyohi County and Judge Randall Slieter in Renville County.
Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2711 7th St. E., will again be hosting a fellowship and food gathering of women in Christ from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11. This event is for all women of all faiths 16 years and older. The event starts with a rosary, adoration and reconciliation. A story published Friday, Sept. 14, on Page A3 gave an incorrect number of new citizens and number of countries represented at a naturalization ceremony held Thursday, Sept. 13, at Minnesota State University Moorhead. There were 103 new citizens from 34 countries.
West Fargo High School girls swimming coach Ronald Hehn was dismissed for what the school district called "inappropriate coaching practices." However, Hehn contends that the practice he used was learned from a 2014 North Dakota Coaches Clinic.
FARGO — The Cass County Commission has lowered the assessed value of a property that was formerly home to a Gander Mountain store in Fargo, but the reduction in value was not as much as the property owner wanted. Store Master Funding VI, owner of the property that once housed Gander Mountain at 2121 43rd St. S., had asked that the assessed value of the property be reduced from about $7.4 million to $5.7 million for the taxable year 2017.
FARGO – Police are investigating reports of shots fired in south Fargo Friday, Sept. 14, that led to the arrest of one suspect. Steven Geely, 30, is in custody for reckless endangerment after admitting to discharging a handgun in the 1600 block of East Gateway Drive, according to Deputy Chief Joe Anderson.
